Sous Chef – Stunning Fresh Food Gastro Pub
Location: Stockport, Cheshire
Salary: £35,500-38,000 + Generous Tronc + Quarterly Bonus + Fantastic Benefits
Our client, a highly regarded quality gastro pub operator, is looking for a highly skilled, hands-on and passionate Sous Chef with strong fresh food experience for their stunning operation in the Stockport area. With their regularly changing menu showcasing their collection of mouth-watering dishes and specials created from quality produce, this beautiful hidden gem is set to attract clientele from all corners of the region.
The culture will be the key to the success of the operation. With this in mind, you should be an incredible motivator, trainer, coach and manager of people. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head Chef, General Manager and Group Operations Chef.
The role:
- As the Sous Chef you will support the Head Chef and be accountable for each and every area of the kitchen operation.
- You will oversee the preparation and production of quality dishes with a real focus on consistency.
- You will engage your team to keep them motivated, informed and passionate about your business.
- You will be passionate about retaining and developing your team, with clear succession plans to ensure the right people are in the right place.
- You will be responsible for all Health and Safety and Food Hygiene within the kitchen, including training where necessary.
- Working closely with the General Manager you will be responsible for GP, Stock ordering and rotation as well as minimising wastage.
Required Experience:
- Solid hands-on Sous Chef experience in a busy, high-volume, fresh food kitchen.
- Excellent fresh food knowledge and strong people management as well as some back of house/kitchen management experience.
- A real role model with an appetite for success and the drive to deliver exceptional results and standards.
- Some financial knowledge would be desirable (P&L, GPs, revenue, quality/portion control) or at least a knowledge of the impact it has on the business Experience of leading, motivating, mentoring, training and developing a team of different personalities, levels of creativity and skillsets.
- A strong multi-tasker with the ability to work well under pressure.
- The ability to recruit, train, mentor, motivate and inspire your team with a focus on development and internal progression.
- The ability to ensure that the team are working to the highest standards, adhering to all policies and procedures.

- A great communicator - excellent at developing relationships with the kitchen team, front of house team, senior management and others involved
