Highly popular with guests who return time and time again, they pride themselves at being ahead of their competitors in ideas and customer service, ensuring that anyone visiting has the best guest experience alongside mouth-watering, well-presented food.
They are looking for a Sous Chef to work alongside the Head Chef in their high- volume. mainly fresh food concept with a focus on amazing service, a great atmosphere, well-cooked fresh food and a fantastic customer experience. They have a reputation for running great operations with a vibrant atmosphere that keeps customers coming back time and time again.
Set in a great location, this successful operation has a warm buzzing atmosphere. It is extremely popular with regular local trade both at lunchtimes and in the evening. The operation holds up to around 65 diners and appeals to all types of customers and ages and is very popular with families, professionals and regular locals from all walks of life just popping in to chat over a drink and a light bite or a full-blown meal. On average the pub does around 800 covers a week.
The pub has a popular menu with a mix of core company menu items and daily specials, using award winning suppliers and supporting local producers as much as possible. Currently 60% of the food is made from fresh with some products bought in, but over the coming months the menu will move more towards fresh where possible.
Food is prepared using local meat, fish, cheese and vegetable suppliers and has an array of delicious lunches, sumptuous steaks, satisfying home-cooked favourites, imaginative veggie dishes and moreish desserts. The restaurant also has a popular bar serving quality beers and a high selection of award-winning wines and spirits.
In your role as Sous chef, you will support the Head chef with the day to day running of the kitchen with a brigade of 6, ensuring that each mouth-watering dish is prepared and presented to the highest standards and are served in a timely manner. The company are looking to develop the current menu with new dishes introduced and the successful candidate will be very involved in developing the revamp of the current menu to take the pub to the next level.
What are we looking for?
Previous experience Sous Chef or Junior Sous Chef. Experience of working within a gastro pub, food pub or restaurant operation – independent or more branded and a mixture of both would be ideal. Must have experience of working with fresh produce but also happy to work with a some 'bought in' products initially The ability to work in a busy environment and under pressure The desire to work in a brilliant food pub/restaurant that does great food. Someone happy cooking quality dishes, but also happy cooking popular traditional fresh menu staples such as fish and chips The desire to work for a successful food pub and assist in developing the menu dishes, taking it up a notch to the next level. A passionate Chef who loves food, your profession, has a calm nature, and a real love for preparing and creating great food. A willingness to both train junior team members and learn from the Head chef. Committed to providing the highest standards of food and service Hands-on and self-motivated - happy to get stuck in where necessary The desire to assist in creating specials whilst serving a key menu of quality fresh dishes
The starting salary is £27,000 plus excellent Quarterly bonus and tips.
