Events Catering Head Chef – 8am-4pm During the week
Location: Leeds
Salary: £35,000-43,000 + Profit Share Scheme + Company Benefits
** Due to the nature of this role, you must have strong events catering experience and be a car driver as the role also includes transportation to the venues on event days (usually Fridays and Saturdays). Tuesdays-Thursdays will be based in Leeds working 8am – 4pm with the central kitchen team prepping for the events **
Our client, a highly regarded wedding and events venue operator are looking for a highly experienced Events Catering Head Chef with menu development experience for their business. You will take charge in menu orders ensuring everything is required for each event. The earlier part of the week will involve early finishes as you’ll be prepping for events at the business’ central kitchen ready for the events which usually take place on Fridays and Saturdays. On event days, you will transport all the prepped ingredients using the company van to the venue where the event will be taking place that day and will cook on location and present to the highest standard creating an unforgettable client experience.
Shift patterns:
Tue-Thu (8am-4pm), Event days (Friday/Saturdays tend to be 9am starts until evening) with Sundays and Mondays being days off giving you the best of both worlds having a weekend day and a weekday off every week, not to forget great working hours during the week.
For this role, we are also looking for a skilled and creative Head Chef with a development background who can expand the business’ offerings and take things to the next level.
The Role:
- You will be responsible for the planning, development, management and delivery of the culinary offering for all weddings and events.
- Working closely with the events management team, you will ensure the offering is perfectly executed and that high quality standards are consistently maintained across the board.
- You will manage the kitchen staff rota and ensuring that all cost targets are met.
- You will be responsible for the implementation and adherence of food safety compliance, including ensuring allergen information is displayed correctly and teams are briefed accordingly.
This is a varied role involving operations, logistics, planning and execution. This is a great opportunity for an experienced Head Chef with a passion for large scale event catering.
The desirable candidate will have:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as an Events Catering Head Chef in either an event-based business or large scale on-the-day catering business (e.g. film production companies).
- Experience of a variety of cuisines, styles of service and a passion for culinary innovation.
- A fantastic forward planner with strong IT and business systems literacy skills.
- Experience in taking personal accountability for food safety compliance.
- Excellent communicator with a high level of interpersonal skills.
- Works well under pressure.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- High level of interpersonal skills.
- Engaging, flexible and friendly in manner.
- Ability to take direction, and to work towards and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work alone and under own initiative.
- Excellent teamwork skills and a proactive, can-do attitude.
- Ability to remain calm during periods of high volume or unusual events, whilst remaining driven to complete your tasks.
- Able to work flexible hours that may include early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
- Must live in the Leeds area and be happy to travel.
