Financial Controller – Highly Regarded Hotel Operation

Location: Liverpool Area

Salary: £45,000–£55,000 (DOE) + 10% Bonus + Excellent Benefits

We are recruiting an experienced and commercially astute Financial Controller to join a highly regarded hotel operation in the Liverpool area. This stunning property is renowned for its strong food & beverage offering, MICE business and high-end leisure facilities, attracting a diverse clientele ranging from leisure guests and corporates to loyal, high-profile repeat visitors. It is a flagship operation with a strong reputation for quality and guest experience.

The Role:

As Financial Controller, you will play a key role within the senior management team, partnering closely with a highly respected General Manager. You will lead the finance function day-to-day while also providing strategic and commercial insight to the General Manager supporting the ongoing success of the hotel.

You will lead and develop a small finance team, acting as a mentor and coach, while working collaboratively with the wider management team to drive performance, set targets and deliver results. Despite being part of a larger organisation, the business retains a genuine family feel and offers autonomy, trust and the opportunity to truly make your mark.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Financial Controller, Finance Manager or Management Accountant with strong hotel experience to join a well-known and reputable operator with clear progression opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of accurate and timely management accounts
  • Full ownership of stock, payroll, expenses and cost control
  • Acting as a commercial and financial advisor to the General Manager
  • Supporting target setting, performance monitoring and reporting
  • Leading, training and developing the on-site finance team
  • Working closely with department heads to drive profitability and efficiencies

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager, Head of Finance or Management Accountant within a busy hotel operation (or a strong Assistant Financial Controller ready for the next step up in their career)
  • Experience within spa/leisure hotels is highly desirable
  • Fully qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or CIPFA)
  • Hands-on, proactive and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communicator with the ability to coach, influence and motivate
  • Commercially minded with a collaborative leadership style
  • Confident working with General Managers to set targets and drive performance
  • Strong IT skills (e.g. Sage 50, Procure Wizard, Micros Symphony, Alchemy, Opera Cloud)
  • Motivated by autonomy and the opportunity to add real value
