We’re looking for a confident, hands-on Café and Bar Supervisor to help drive the day-to-day success of our café, kiosk and bar services within one of Liverpool’s most distinctive venues. This is a practical leadership role at the heart of our operation, perfect for someone who thrives on delivering exceptional service while motivating a team to perform at their best.

Working closely with the Café and Bar Manager, you’ll lead from the front during busy services, vibrant events and private hires. You’ll occasionally step up as Duty Manager, taking responsibility for ensuring the venue runs smoothly, safely and professionally.

The role operates across a 7-day schedule, with shifts predominantly Sunday to Thursday and including evenings and weekends in line with venue activity.

You will:

  • Oversee daily set-up and close-down of café and bar operations, ensuring everything is ready to impress.

  • Supervise Food & Beverage Assistants during service, maintaining energy, efficiency and high standards.

  • Support delivery of in-house catering for selected events.

  • Ensure counters, displays and service areas are consistently well presented.

  • Support food and beverage delivery during events and private hires.

You will:

  • Provide clear day-to-day direction and encouragement to café and bar teams.

  • Assist with rota coordination and leave requests.

  • Support induction of new team members and ensure training and documentation are completed.

  • Foster a positive, professional team culture focused on quality and customer experience.

  • Contribute to performance management conversations alongside the Café and Bar Manager.

Health, Safety & Compliance
You will:

  • Ensure full compliance with food safety standards, licensing laws and venue procedures.

  • Maintain training in First Aid, Fire Marshal, Manual Handling, Level 3 Food Hygiene and Allergen Awareness.

  • Obtain a Personal Licence if not already held (training provided if required).

  • Support the review and implementation of risk assessments and safe systems of work.

Financial & Administrative Support
You will:

  • Complete cashing-up procedures accurately and efficiently.

  • Review weekly timesheets to ensure payroll accuracy.

  • Work towards achieving sales and cost targets set by the Café and Bar Manager.

  • Contribute ideas and initiatives to enhance food and beverage income.

Duty Management Responsibilities

When acting as Duty Manager, you will:

  • Oversee opening and closing procedures to ensure the venue is safe, clean, welcoming and operationally ready.

  • Act as lead contact during emergencies, including fire evacuations, liaising with colleagues and emergency services.

  • Manage building issues during the day and coordinate external contractors when needed.

  • Ensure health and safety procedures are followed and incidents are recorded accurately.

  • Take the lead in resolving visitor or client concerns professionally and calmly.

  • Act as a point of contact for front of house teams.

  • Ensure food safety and cash handling procedures are upheld at all times.

This is not an exhaustive list, and flexibility will be required in line with the needs of the organisation.
